Surgery - Cardiovascular Physician Assistant

Cardiothoracic Surgery first assist coverage in Florida with a predictable weekday schedule and defined call expectations. Inpatient-only, rounding in the CVICU and telemetry with a CABG-heavy case mix.

Highlights

• Inpatient-only role, no clinic or outpatient responsibilities
• Weekday scheduled hours, 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM
• CTS call with low callback volume reported, 1 to 2 per month
• Case mix is primarily CABG, with valve and aortic cases as well

Practice Setting

• Inpatient cardiothoracic surgery service, first assist role
• Rounding responsibilities on CVICU and telemetry patients
• Approximate census is 20 patients
• Team support includes a minimum of 4 providers per shift, cardiology is contracted through another hospital

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM
• Rotating weekends as needed
• Night and weekend call as needed, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Call ratio is a minimum of 6 nights per month

Cases and Procedures

• Cardiothoracic surgery first assist coverage
• Endoscopic vein harvesting required, Maquet EVH system experience preferred
• Estimated case mix, 75% CABG and 25% valve or aortic surgeries
• Service volume reported at 20 to 30 surgeries per month

Requirements

• Florida license, will consider IMLC candidates with an active IMLC LOQ
• Board certification requirements listed as Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery
• PA C or AGACNP accepted, EVH certification preferred
