Data Platform Engineer

Salary: $100,000 - 140,000 per year Requirements:

• A bachelors degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field and at least five years of data platform or software engineering experience; alternatively, a masters degree and at least three years, a PhD and at least one year, an associates degree and at least seven years, or a high school diploma and at least nine years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience building and managing large-scale data platforms, cloud architectures, or distributed data systems, with a strong background in database engineering, data pipeline automation, and programming languages such as Python, Scala, or SQL.
• Hands-on experience with containerization, orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes, and CI/CD automation pipelines.
• Experience creating, maintaining, and communicating complex technical documentation and platform architectures.
• Must hold a current, active Secret security clearance.
• Must be able to remain stationary for 50% of the time, occasionally move around the office to access equipment or files, and communicate accurately with colleagues, management, and customers, including when delivering presentations.
• Preferred: Relevant industry certifications, such as AWS Certified Data Engineer or Azure Data Engineer Associate.
• Preferred: Experience supporting U.S. Military Command operations or Department of Defense enterprise technical environments.
• Preferred: Familiarity with data governance frameworks, metadata management tools, and real-time streaming technologies.
• Preferred: Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams to advance infrastructure improvements.

• Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable data platform architectures and their underlying infrastructure.
• Develop, optimize, and monitor enterprise data pipelines, ingestion frameworks, and ETL/ELT workflows.
• Work with cross-functional technical teams, data architects, and analysts to establish data interoperability standards.
• Tune system performance, plan capacity, and troubleshoot distributed data platforms.
• Maintain system baselines, automated configuration management controls, and platform engineering documentation.
• Assess emerging data platform technologies and implement process improvements to strengthen system reliability and scalability.
