Accounting Manager, Medical Margin

This position will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the medical margin accounting function and driving continuous improvement in the close process. This position will work closely and collaboratively with various departments across the company to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.Duties/Responsibilities:Manage the medical margin financial close and drive the timely and accurate reporting of revenue and medical expensesManage the day-to-day activities of the medical margin accounting function, including reviewing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliationsManage and develop a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, support, and coachingFoster a culture of collaboration and high performanceEvaluate current accounting processes and develop and implement new processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the medical margin accounting functionCollaborate cross-functionally with Actuary, IT, Med Econ, Finance, and other departments to analyze payor healthcare data and perform end-to-end payor reconciliations to improve data accuracyAct as a point of contact for the Accounting department as it pertains to payor data and reconciliationsAssist with the settlement process between ArchWell Health and payors, as necessaryReconcile the general ledger to the underlying sources and develop methods and tools to provide analytical insightManage and support with the build-out of med margin-related process documentationAssist with the build-out and maintenance of Med Margin-related accounting memos, policies, and procedures in accordance with GAAPSupport with the development and maintenance of internal controlsContribute to the financial reporting process and coordinate with other Finance leaders to produce high quality financial reporting and analysisSupport with interim and annual auditsServe as a resource and partner to cross-functional leaders, providing data and reports as requestedAd-hoc projects and initiativesRequired Skills/Abilities:Deep understanding of technical accounting policies, regulations, financial statements, internal controls, and proceduresProven experience building and developing processes and procedures with a focus on continuous improvementExperience in financial and variance analysis with the ability to interpret and communicate findings and insightsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft ExcelSelf-starter with the ability to work both independently and cross-functionally to achieve objectivesDetail-oriented with strong judgment, analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to navigate complex issues and communicate solutionsAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities and competing deadlinesAbility to multi-task with strong organizational skillsEffective communicator, able to present information clearly to internal stakeholdersEducation and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferredMinimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including time in a leadership roleHealthcare experience required, value-based care experience preferredCPA designation strongly preferredExperience with Oracle NetSuite a plusArchWell Health is an equal opportunity employer.
