Head of DevOps Engineering | $200,000 + Bonus | Permanent | 4 Days Onsite Industry: Trading / Capital Markets / Commodity / FX / Equities Job Type: Permanent Our client is a global trading firm undergoing a significant technology transformation focused on cloud modernisation and AI-driven innovation. The organisation is investing heavily in building a unified, cloud-first technology function capable of supporting a globally distributed trading and operational business. They are seeking a Head of DevOps Engineering to lead the next phase of that transformation. This is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and implementing the future-state technology strategy across cloud platforms and engineering operations. The successful candidate will inherit globally distributed teams across North America and Europe, and will play a critical role in bringing together fragmented technology estates into a single modern operating model. This role is heavily focused on leadership, organisational alignment and strategic technology direction rather than hands‑on engineering delivery. This is an opportunity for an experienced technology leader to shape the long-term platform landscape of a fast-moving global trading organisation while operating closely with senior leadership across cloud, data and AI functions. What You'll Be Doing Define and implement a cloud-first technology strategy across the organisation, establishing a scalable and standardised operating model across acquired businesses. Lead and unify globally distributed DevOps Engineering teams. Drive consolidation of platform and engineering estates inherited through acquisitions, creating consistent standards, governance and operational processes across the group. Partner closely with cloud, AI and data leadership teams to ensure technology strategy aligns with broader transformation initiatives. Lead platform lifecycle management, upgrade planning and strategic investment decisions across core systems and services. Drive change management initiatives across engineering teams, bringing together different cultures, teams and operating models into a cohesive function. Support the evolution of application, cloud and DevOps capabilities, ensuring platform services effectively support modern application delivery practices. Requirements Proven experience in a senior platform and DevOps leadership role within a complex enterprise environment, managing globally distributed teams across multiple technology domains. Strong technical breadth across cloud platforms, systems and identity/access management environments. Experience leading large-scale technology transformation programmes, including cloud migration and reduction of on‑premises dependency. Strong experience across Azure and/or AWS cloud environments within enterprise‑scale organisations. Experience leading geographically distributed engineering teams and managing through managers and technical leads. Strong change management and organisational leadership capability, ideally within post‑acquisition or business integration environments. Ability to operate strategically while maintaining sufficient technical depth to challenge decisions and direct specialist teams effectively. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership and drive alignment across technical and non‑technical teams. Highly Desirable Experience within trading, financial services or fintech environments. Exposure to AI or data platform environments. Experience leading technology consolidation across acquired businesses or multi‑entity organisations. Familiarity with DevOps operating models, CI/CD environments and cloud‑native practices.
