Overview
The Political Science Department at Providence College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in the field of European Politics , grounded in perspectives from either International Relations or Comparative Politics , with additional expertise in research methods , particularly quantitative research methods .

The field of European Politics is understood broadly by our Department, and we welcome applicants across a wide range of methodological and substantive interests. We seek candidates with demonstrated expertise in quantitative research design and statistical analysis who can contribute to the Department's research methods curriculum. Substantive areas of specialization may include, for example, European integration and governance; the European Union and its institutions; democratization and democratic backsliding; political parties, elections, and public opinion; migration and citizenship; comparative political institutions; political economy; colonial and postcolonial politics (particularly with Asia and Africa); identity, nationalism, and populism; security and foreign policy; environmental and climate politics; gender and social policy; or other Europe-centered topics. Geographically, we welcome candidates whose research focuses on any region or country within Europe, including cross-national and comparative perspectives with countries in other regions.

Successful candidates will be expected to maintain an active research agenda, teach undergraduate courses in their area of specialization and introduction courses in Political Science or International Relations/Comparative Politics, and contribute to the Department's core curriculum in research methods, including quantitative methods and statistics. The ability to engage students in empirical political analysis and to mentor undergraduate research is especially valued. Candidates should possess a PhD or evidence of completing their PhD by the expected hiring date. Review of applications will begin on October 1 and will continue until the position is filled.

The salary range for this position is between $70,000-$80,000.
