As a school-based Physical Therapy Assistant, you'll play an active, hands-on role in supporting students throughout their school day. You'll provide direct services aligned with students' IEPs or other support plans, while working closely with teachers, administrators, and fellow service providers to ensure each student receives the support they need to succeed.This role is embedded within the rhythm of a school—balancing direct student interaction, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and consistent documentation to support student progress and compliance. You'll participate in team meetings, contribute to planning and progress discussions, and adapt your approach based on individual student needs and the evolving priorities of the school environment. The goal is to support students' mobility, physical function, positioning, strength, and access needs so they can more fully participate in their educational environment.At MJ Care, you're not stepping into this work alone. We focus on building strong relationships—with our associates and our school partners—so you can focus on what matters most: making a meaningful impact in students' day-to-day lives.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide services to students under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT)Implement treatment plans and therapy activities developed by the supervising PTSupport students with mobility, positioning, balance, strength, coordination, and accessUse adaptive equipment, mobility devices, transfers, and environmental modificationsDeliver services in a variety of settings (e.g., classroom, small group, one-on-one)Work with teachers, administrators, and related service providers to support student successParticipate in and contribute to IEP meetings, team meetings, and progress discussionsMaintain accurate, timely, and compliant service documentation and recordsManage caseload responsibilities, including scheduling and service trackingCommunicate effectively with school staff and, when appropriate, familiesSupport a positive, inclusive, and student-centered learning environmentEnsure compliance with applicable state, federal, and professional standardsAdapt to changes in student needs, schedules, and school priorities throughout the yearRequirementsPosition RequirementsMinimum QualificationsAssociate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant programCurrent Wisconsin DSPS Physical Therapy Assistant license in good standingCurrent Wisconsin DPI School Physical Therapy Assistant license (O054)Individual NPI number (required for Medicaid billing beginning in the 2026–2027 school year)Maintenance of all licenses and certifications in good standing throughout employmentAbility to meet all district and state onboarding requirements, including background checksPreferred ExperiencePrevious experience in a school-based or pediatric setting is strongly preferredFamiliarity with IEPs, evaluations, service documentation, and progress monitoring preferredExperience collaborating within multidisciplinary teamsNew graduates are encouraged to apply!Required SkillsStrong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teamsAbility to build positive, supportive relationships with students, staff, and familiesOrganizational skills and attention to detail, particularly with scheduling and documentationAbility to manage a caseload and adapt to changing priorities in a school environmentComfort with basic technology for documentation, communication, and service trackingProblem-solving mindset with the ability to respond to student needs in real timeAdditional RequirementsAbility to comply with all federal, state, and local regulations, including FERPA and HIPAAReliable transportation, if travel between school sites is requiredAbility to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation
