Solutions Architect – Grid Modernization | Utility IT/OT Are you ready to help shape the future of one of the nation's largest energy delivery companies? We are seeking a Solutions Architect to support an ambitious grid modernization program — designing and integrating the enterprise IT solutions that power smarter, more resilient energy infrastructure across their service territory. About the Role As a Solutions Architect, you will serve as the technical visionary and integration leader for IT workstreams supporting a grid modernization initiative. You will be responsible for translating complex utility business and operational requirements into scalable, secure, and future‑ready technology architectures. Working at the intersection of enterprise IT and operational technology, you will drive solution design across platforms, including OMS, ADMS, GIS, AMI, DER management, and supporting enterprise systems — ensuring seamless integration, data flow, and alignment with CenterPoint's long‑term technology strategy. What You'll Do Lead end‑to‑end solution architecture design for IT systems supporting grid modernization initiatives, including system integrations, data architecture, and application infrastructure Develop architecture blueprints, integration patterns, and reference architectures that align with CenterPoint's enterprise standards and grid modernization roadmap Collaborate with CenterPoint business, operations, and technology stakeholders to translate grid modernization requirements into actionable IT solution designs Define integration strategies between key utility platforms, including ADMS, OMS, GIS, MDM, AMI head‑end, ERP, and work management systems Evaluate and recommend technology solutions, platforms, and vendors in support of grid modernization program objectives Ensure solution designs adhere to enterprise security standards, NERC CIP requirements, and utility industry best practices for IT/OT environments Partner with program managers, project teams, and CenterPoint IT leadership to guide solution delivery from architecture through implementation Identify technical risks, dependencies, and gaps across the program and develop mitigation strategies Serve as a trusted technical advisor to CenterPoint stakeholders and internal delivery teams throughout the program lifecycle Contribute to the development of IT standards, patterns, and reusable frameworks that accelerate delivery across the broader grid modernization portfolio What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred 8+ years of experience in IT solution architecture, with at least 3 years supporting utility or energy sector clients Deep understanding of electric utility operations and the systems that support them — including OMS, ADMS/DMS, GIS, AMI, MDM, SCADA, and ERP Proven experience designing enterprise integrations using APIs, ESB/middleware platforms, and data exchange standards such as IEC CIM View phone number on click.appcast.io), MultiSpeak, or similar Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and hybrid cloud architectures in regulated utility environments Familiarity with IT/OT convergence, OT cybersecurity frameworks, and NERC CIP compliance considerations Demonstrated ability to engage executive and senior technical stakeholders, communicate complex architectural concepts clearly, and build consensus Experience working in large‑scale utility transformation or grid modernization programs is highly preferred Nice to Have Experience supporting CenterPoint Energy, or a comparable Tier 1 investor‑owned utility, in a consulting or direct capacity Familiarity with DER management systems (DERMS), distribution automation, or smart grid edge technologies Architecture certifications such as TOGAF, AWS Solutions Architect, or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Knowledge of Esri ArcGIS Utility Network or GIS‑centric utility workflows Why This Role Work on one of the most consequential grid modernization programs in the U.S., directly supporting CenterPoint's multi‑billion dollar infrastructure investment Shape the IT architecture of a modernizing utility serving millions of customers across Texas, Indiana, Ohio, and beyond Competitive compensation, benefits, and a high‑visibility role with long‑term program engagement Collaborate with a team of deep utility and technology experts, driving meaningful change in the energy sector #J-18808-Ljbffr Attractivate Consulting Solutions
