Operations Supervisor

Operations Supervisor Come join one of the largest transportation organizations in all of North America! First Student is currently hiring for an Operations Supervisor to support Cincinnati Public Schools. In this role you will focus on supervising day‑to‑day operations of our buses, as well as scheduling the maintenance and fueling of the buses. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and on‑time transportation of students while managing the daily operations of drivers and routes. A typical day begins by verifying driver attendance, covering open routes, and addressing last‑minute staffing or vehicle issues before buses leave the yard. Throughout the day, the dispatcher monitors route performance, communicates with drivers via radio and phone, responds to breakdowns, accidents, weather conditions, and student management concerns, and coordinates with schools, parents, mechanics, and management to resolve operational challenges. The role requires strong communication, problem‑solving, multitasking, and leadership skills to keep transportation operations running smoothly while providing excellent service to students, families, and school district partners. Schedule: Monday through Friday, AM or PM routes (8 hours between 4:30am-7:00pm) Salary: $50,000-53,000/yr, depending upon experience. Job Responsibilities: Demonstrates and promotes a safe work environment at all times Ensures drivers have the daily paperwork necessary to complete their routes and that completed charter paperwork is received by the Location Manager for processing Coordinates field trips by assignment of personnel and vehicles Under the Location Manager’s direction, assists drivers with establishing route descriptions Ensures drivers follow through with scheduled fueling and mechanical work Observes safety practices of personnel and takes corrective action when necessary Assists Location Manager during training sessions and kick‑off meetings Attends disciplinary meetings with the Location Manager May interact with school officials on routine matters at smaller bus locations May drive bus on occasion if necessary Assists dispatcher when necessary May manage small locations under the overall direction of the Location Manager Ensures routes meet state, local, and vendor requirements Reviews time sheets prior to submission to payroll Minimum Requirements: 3-5 years experience in the transportation industry Good supervisory skills Excellent communication and organization skills Good interpersonal skills Computer skills Subject to DOT drug testing and physical; DOT Regulation 49CFR Part40 does not authorize the use of ScheduleI drugs, including marijuana, for any reason All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or veteran status. #J-18808-Ljbffr
