Blue Bird is transforming the student transportation industry through cleaner energy solutions.Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Accounting, the Corporate Accountant is responsible for performing various duties including, among others, preparing and posting monthly journal entries, general ledger account reconciliation and month end close procedures, including compliance with internal control over financial reporting.Essential duties and responsibilities include:Gather the information required, and evaluate it for accuracy and completeness, to prepare and post monthly journal entriesWork collaboratively to support other functions by providing them with the financial information needed to make informed decisionsPrepare financial management reportsResearch miscellaneous account and accounting questionsEnsure financial records are maintained in compliance with GAAPResolve accounting discrepancies and irregularitiesAssist with monthly closings and preparation of monthly financial recordsPrepare reconciliations and general ledger account analysisAssist with special projects and/or information requestsPerform internal controls necessary to support accurate and complete financial reportingAssist with preparation for, and coordination of, internal and external auditsTo efficiently and effectively collaborate within finance and with other departments and stakeholders, working on-site in the Company's Macon, GA headquarters is requiredPerform other related duties as assigned or requestedKnowledge, skills and abilities for success include:Must be able to work independentlyGood communication skillsGood planning, organizing and coordinating skillsMust be detail orientedMust be able to multi-taskMicrosoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)Basic education and experience required:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting5+ years of accounting experienceAll candidates must be a U.S. citizen or permanent residentPreferred experience:CPA, preferredExperience working in a publicly traded company, including extensive internal controls over financial reporting experience as well as audit preparation and support, is preferredWe value:Ability to anticipate and understand customer needs and provide guidanceExcellent interpersonal and customer relationship skills to handle difficult and sensitive matters.Strong project management skills.
