The Department of State Hospitals - Metropolitan State Hospital is currently accepting applications for Physician and Surgeon (Safety), Permanent/Fulltime. Working Title: Physician and Surgeon (Safety) - Medical Services Dept.

Under the supervision of the Chief Physician and Surgeon the Physician and Surgeon will be responsible for the medical care of assigned patients. Applicants must be willing to work any shift/unit to meet the needs of the facility.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance or the California Board of Osteopathic Examiners. (Applicants who are in the process of securing approval of their qualifications by the Board of Medical Quality Assurance or the Board of Osteopathic Examiners will be admitted to the examination, but the Board to which application is made must determine that all legal requirements have been met before candidates will be eligible for appointment.) and Completion of an internship in an approved hospital. (Applicants serving an internship will be admitted to the examination, but they may not be appointed until they meet the other requirements stated above.)

Range V : This range shall apply to incumbents employed at the Departments of Developmental Services, Mental Health, and Veterans Affairs for medical employees who are Non-Board Certified and are no longer subject to staged PERS. Range W : This range shall apply to incumbents employed at the Departments of Developmental Services, Mental Health, and Veterans Affairs for medical employees who are Lifetime Board Certified and are no longer subject to staged PERS. Range Y : This range shall apply to incumbents employed at the Departments of Developmental Services, Mental Health, and Veterans Affairs for medical employees who possess Time-Limited Board Certification and are no longer subject to staged PERS.
