STRTP Therapist

Overall Function The STRTP Therapist provides assessment, treatment planning, and direct clinical services to clients at one or more STRTP sites. The therapist collaborates with direct childcare staff, families, Probation Officers/Social Workers, and other Child and Family Team (CFT) members to ensure client needs are met in a trauma‑informed, culturally appropriate, and clinical manner. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assess and create treatment goals and plans based on client and family needs, monitor progress, and adjust plans and services accordingly. Provide individual, group, and family therapy for assigned client caseload, including crisis intervention, intensive care coordination, rehab services, and discharge planning. Maintain communication and work collaboratively with all treatment team members, referring agencies, and other CFT members. Facilitate and participate in treatment team, CFT, and case consultation meetings. Share client background information and clinical guidance and oversight on best‑practice approaches with program staff. Conceptualize cases and provide services in a strength‑based, trauma‑informed, client and family‑centered, and culturally humble manner. Be on‑call during the week for assigned clients and on a rotating weekend basis for all STRTP sites. Document all services provided in the electronic health records system (Exym) and comply with deadlines and guidelines set by DMH, Probation, DCFS, CCL, CCR, and the agency. Participate in weekly group supervisions and individual supervision as needed. Provide agency‑wide trainings in the field of expertise as requested or needed. Attend and participate in mandatory training and in‑services as required. Perform other tasks and responsibilities as deemed appropriate by supervisor. Provide coverage of HOS duties when absent, including maintaining a safe, healthy, therapeutic environment, ensuring mental health assessments for each child, and monitoring service quality. Required Education, Training, Experience, and Certifications At least 21 years of age. Possesses a MSW or MFT; LCSW or LMFT preferred. Active registration through the Board of Behavioral Science (BBS). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to earn children’s/youth’s respect and exemplify educational values. Knowledge, skills, and experience to work effectively with children/youth in placement. Comfortable working with adolescents and responsive to their needs. Ability to accept parents regardless of differences in values and standards of conduct. Highest standards of moral integrity, sense of values, and social commitment required of staff dealing with adolescents. Ability to handle crises. Valid California driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and a clean driving record acceptable to the organization’s insurance company. Pass a fingerprint background investigation. Pass a TB test, Physical Exam, and Drug Screening. Other Duties Other activities and duties as assigned. Physical Demands Stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; utilize fingers, hands, and arms up to two‑thirds of the day. Lift items and assist clients with lifting items up to 25 pounds one‑third of the day. Clear close and distance vision and ability to adjust focus. Ability to operate a vehicle and recognize all street signs. Speak and listen in person, over the phone, and via video conferencing. Use a keyboard and read from computer screen. Environmental Conditions Ability to adjust to climate, outdoor and indoor conditions such as extreme heat, humidity, and cold weather.
