Position Summary The Assistant Starbucks Manager supports the Starbucks Manager in overseeing daily department operations while delivering a consistent, high-quality customer experience. This position helps lead and develop associates, maintain product quality and presentation standards, ensure food safety and sanitation requirements are followed, and support efficient department operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with overseeing daily Starbucks operations and maintaining a welcoming, customer-focused environment.
• Prepare and serve beverages and food items according to established recipes, procedures, and quality standards.
• Provide friendly, efficient, and professional service to customers.
• Help coordinate daily associate assignments, breaks, and workflow based on business needs.
• Train, coach, and provide day-to-day direction to department associates.
• Ensure proper procedures are followed for beverage preparation, product handling, equipment use, and customer service.
• Monitor product quality, freshness, availability, and presentation throughout the shift.
• Maintain appropriate inventory levels and assist with ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating merchandise and supplies.
• Help minimize product loss and waste through proper production planning, rotation, and inventory practices.
• Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked service counters, preparation areas, storage areas, and equipment.
• Ensure food safety, sanitation, temperature control, and personal hygiene standards are consistently followed.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures as assigned.
• Monitor department conditions and respond to operational or customer service concerns.
• Assist customers with questions, special requests, and service issues in a professional manner.
• Support department sales, productivity, service, and operational goals.
• Ensure associates follow company policies, safety procedures, and loss prevention practices.
• Communicate department needs, staffing concerns, equipment issues, and operational challenges to the Starbucks Manager or store leadership.
• Perform additional department responsibilities as assigned based on business needs.

Leadership Responsibilities

• Provide daily direction and support to Starbucks associates.
• Lead by example by demonstrating excellent customer service, teamwork, professionalism, and urgency.
• Assist with training new associates on department procedures, product preparation, sanitation, and customer service expectations.
• Coach associates to improve performance, efficiency, product quality, and customer engagement.
• Help maintain a positive and productive work environment.
• Communicate department priorities and expectations clearly to the team.
• Support the Starbucks Manager with department planning and daily operational decisions.
• Take an active leadership role in department operations when the Starbucks Manager is unavailable.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, reach, lift, carry, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.
• Ability to safely lift and move products, supplies, and equipment as required.
• Ability to work around hot equipment, refrigerated products, and varying temperatures.
• Ability to perform frequent beverage and food preparation tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

The Assistant Starbucks Manager works primarily within the Starbucks department while interacting frequently with customers, associates, vendors, and store leadership. The position requires balancing hands-on beverage and food preparation with customer service, associate leadership, sanitation, inventory, and daily operational responsibilities.
