Patient Care Coordinator

Radiology Department Support SpecialistProvides customer service and administrative support for the Radiology department. Serves as a key point of contact for patients, clinicians, and technologists. Responsible for scheduling appointments, managing referrals, conducting patient outreach, and supporting departmental operations. Works independently to coordinate patient access, improve workflow efficiency, and ensure smooth communication between patients, providers, and imaging staff.Primary Responsibilities:Manage patient flow, scheduling, and appointment availabilitySchedule imaging exams and follow-up appointmentsAssist with referral processing and coordinate communication with other departmentsContact patients regarding appointments and follow-up careDetermine urgency of appointments and appropriately prioritize scheduling needsVerify insurance coverage and patient demographic informationCollect co-pays and deductibles for imaging servicesMake appointment reminder callsProcess requests for copies of imaging records and CDsMaintain department check-in processes and patient flowMonitor referral/work queues and follow up on open referralsSchedule appointment requests and assist with patient checkout as neededCoordinate image sharing, retrieval of outside imaging, and PACS/EMR updatesTrack internal and external imaging records according to department policiesCommunicate imaging results to outside providers following department protocolsMaintain an organized and welcoming waiting roomAssist with training and onboarding of new radiology support staffProvide backup coverage for support staff and support multiple regional locations as neededAddress routine patient concerns and complaintsPerform other duties as assignedRequired Qualifications:High School Diploma, GED, HiSET, or equivalentComputer proficiency and ability to use healthcare technology systemsProven solid customer service, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skillsProven ability to use standard office equipment and electronic applicationsProven ability to work in a busy medical office environment with frequent interruptionsPreferred Qualifications:Associate's degree in Medical Assisting or Medical Office Administration certificate programEMR experience or aptitude to learn and master EMR systemsBusiness experience, including cash handling/collectionsExperience in a medical or clinical settingExperience prioritizing and managing multiple tasksHealthcare business office experienceKnowledge of CPT and ICD codingFamiliarity with medical terminologyUnderstanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirementsPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $18.91 - $29.88 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
