Job Summary

This is a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) travel nursing opportunity on a 41-bed progressive care trauma/telemetry unit primarily geared towards adult patients requiring care after experiencing traumatic injury typically requiring surgical intervention. The unit is equipped with telemetry monitoring for up to 14 patients. 7 East and West patients are hemodynamically stable. Examples of these patients include those with injuries related to gunshot wounds or other penetrating injury, assaults, motor vehicle crashes, and falls. The typical nurse to patient ratio is 1:4 flexing up to 1:5 as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide progressive care nursing for adult trauma patients following surgical intervention in a 41-bed unit
• Monitor and manage hemodynamically stable patients requiring telemetry monitoring (unit capacity up to 14 patients)
• Care for patients presenting with diagnoses related to surgical trauma, including gunshot wounds and other penetrating injuries, assaults, motor vehicle crashes, and falls
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4, flexing up to 1:5 as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, Transportation, and Unit Secretary

Required Skills

• AHA ACLS certification required
• BCLS certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• Telemetry (TELE) competency required
• Ability to pass mandatory medication test

Education Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• AHA ACLS required
• BCLS required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience required for first-time travelers

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• Night shift position: 19:007:30 (3x12-hour shifts)
• 36 hours per week only
• 6 weekend shifts per every 6-week schedule
• Flu vaccination required no exemptions
• COVID-19 vaccination: not required
• Orientation: 16 hours (non-billable)
