Cardiology - Inpatient Nurse Practitioner/Physician AssistantLocation: Dodson Medical Office BuildingDepartment: CardiologyShift: Varying Shifts (United States of America)Standard Weekly Hours: 40Summary: The NP/PA, Surgical (Cardiology - Inpatient) functions in a collaborative practice with physician(s) in the inpatient setting. Autonomously performs patient assessment, diagnosis, and intervention according to approved protocols. Develops and maintains own volume of patients under the supervision of a physician. Provides practice/clinic/call coverage and may round for physician(s) during periods of absence. Prescribes a variety of modalities to meet wellness and illness needs, up to and including hospital rounding/consultation, assisting in surgery if appropriate and prescriptive authority.Schedule: 10 hour shifts on a rotating scheduleCall is 1 weekend per monthCardiology experience as an advanced practice provider (NP or PA) is highly preferred, however cardiology experience as a Registered Nurse will also be considered.Education and ExperienceAdvanced Practice Registered NursesMaster's Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and minimum 1 year of pediatric nursing experience or related specialized area strongly preferred.Physician AssistantsMaster's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies and minimum 1 year of experience in related specialized area strongly preferred.Licensure, Registration, and/or CertificationAdvanced Practice Registered NursesCurrent Texas professional registered nurse licenseCurrent Texas professional advanced practice registered nurse licenseCertified as an RNFA preferredCertified as a Family or Pediatric Nurse PractitionerCurrent Basic Life Support (CPR) is required.Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is required.Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required when assigned to Cardiology and Cardiothoracic SurgeryPediatric nurse practitioner acute care certification required when assigned to Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery and Pediatric Surgery/TraumaPhysician AssistantsCurrent Texas professional physician assistant license.Certified as a PA-CCurrent Basic Life Support (CPR) required.Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required when assigned to Cardiology and Cardiothoracic SurgeryAbout Cook Children's:Our not-for-profit organization is comprised of a flagship medical center in Fort Worth, Texas, a new medical center in Prosper, Texas, a physician network, home health company, surgery centers, health plan, health services, and health foundation.
