Position Overview We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to provide onsite administrative and accounting support across all divisions of the firm, including tax, audit, and bookkeeping. The position offers a great introduction to the CPA firm environment, with opportunities to learn across every service line. The Accounting Assistant will work closely with the Office Manager, senior level CPAs and professional staff. Key Responsibilities Provide onsite administrative support to the tax, audit, and bookkeeping divisions of the firm. Serve as a point of contact for clients during intake and delivery of information, including collecting documents, organizing client files, and handling completed work. Assist the Office Manager with day-to-day internal operations, including client document intake and delivery, answering the phone, front reception duty during peak season and similar administrative duties Perform basic bookkeeping for small business clients, such as transaction entry, bank reconciliations, accounts payable and basic reporting. Support seasonal workflow demands, particularly during tax season. Follow established firm processes and maintain strong attention to detail across all engagements. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and team members. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting Minimum of 1 year of professional-level, post-college work experience Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to follow established firm workflows and processes Excellent client service and communication skills, both written and spoken Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel Adapts easily to new software and technology Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in a public accounting firm or professional office environment Familiarity with bookkeeping software such as QuickBooks Interest in pursuing a career in public accounting, including the CPA designation Full-time, onsite position in Knoxville, TN Standard business hours, Monday through Friday. Peak tax season mid-January through April 15, typically requires 45-50 hours per week. Potential for one day per week of remote work during the summer months.
