Physical Therapist – Per Diem A Per Diem Physical Therapist is a healthcare professional who provides therapy services on an as-needed basis, typically filling in for staff shortages or covering vacations and leaves of absence. The therapist is forward-thinking, excels at assessing patients’ strengths and weaknesses, and devises creative but effective treatment plans. Therapists must practice discretion, maintain patient confidentiality, and operate a high-energy, positive-thinking environment while offering patients positive encouragement to achieve their goals. They will utilize training and skills to aid patients in healing, recovering, improving pain tolerance, and maximizing functional independence. Staff Physical Therapists examine patients using fundamental clinical knowledge, implement a treatment plan, and execute plans of care daily. What You’ll Need Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree required; Doctorate degree preferred Licensed Physical Therapist practicing in the state Completed state-regulated CEU requirement in appropriate state (NY, NJ) Valid CPR License Experience or knowledge with an EMR software preferred Excellent oral and written communication Strong clinical decision-making skills Excellent work ethic and dedication to patient success Basic computer skills Works as a team member and individually with minimal supervision Maintains a positive, professional demeanor at all times What You’ll Do Collect and record patient care data that follows the format and guidelines of the patient care service, regulatory agencies, and third-party payers, reflecting an understanding of reimbursement systems and their impact on patient care. Perform initial evaluations, daily notes, reassessments/progress reports, discharge plans, and communicate with team members. Record daily billing and follow department guidelines for productivity. Prepare for evaluations in accordance with department policies, procedures, and standards of practice, including obtaining patient history and researching unfamiliar diagnoses. Select and administer tests and measures. Synthesize evaluation results to formulate diagnosis, goals, prognosis, and plan of care. Establish treatment plan based on evaluation results, goals, and best practice; collaborate with interdisciplinary team, patients, and patient support system; assess and re-assess need for modifications to plan of care and goals. Identify need for consultations and/or refer the patient to another health care professional or health care services; initiate and complete discharge plan. Provide education and training to patient and/or patient support system. Functional training: ADLs/IADLs, therapeutic activities (e.g., transfers, bed mobility), rehabilitation equipment prescription and training, and community reintegration. Responsible for treatment, plan of care, and exercise prescription for patient caseload. Provide interventions that are safe, effective, and in compliance with JAG. Musculoskeletal interventions: therapeutic exercise, joint mobilization, and modalities. Document data and note writing using Prompt EMR for all treatments provided. Attend annual JAG Billing and Coding seminar. Demonstrate respectful interactions with patients, colleagues, and others.
