Job Title: Skilled Labor - Commercial Construction General Laborer Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Commercial Construction General Laborer to support a capital improvement project for a school. This role involves assisting skilled trades, maintaining safe and organized job site conditions, handling materials, and performing a variety of general labor tasks to ensure efficient project execution.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean, safe, and organized job site conditions in accordance with company and OSHA standards.

• Assist with the loading, unloading, and transportation of construction materials and equipment.

• Perform general labor tasks such as digging, lifting, carrying, sweeping, and debris removal.

• Support skilled trades such as carpenters, electricians, and plumbers as needed.

• Set up and take down temporary structures, barriers, and signage.

• Operate basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently.

• Assist with site preparation, including grading and layout support.

• Monitor and restock supplies and materials to ensure continuous workflow.

• Follow all safety procedures and promptly report hazards or incidents.

• Perform other duties as assigned to support project completion.

Essential Skills

• 1+ years of experience in commercial construction or related fields such as residential construction, roofing, landscaping, site construction, or building maintenance.

• OSHA 10 Certification.

• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.

• Experience with hand and power tools.

• Ability to work with good safety habits.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in construction or general labor preferred; commercial experience is a plus.

• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting 50+ pounds, standing, bending, and working in various weather conditions.

• Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment.

• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.

• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.

• Understanding of job site safety practices.

Work Environment

The work environment is an outdoor construction site with exposure to varying weather conditions. It is a fast-paced and physically demanding setting that may require early mornings, extended hours, or occasional weekend work depending on the project schedule. The standard shift is Monday to Friday, from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

This is a Contract position based out of Hamilton, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
