Radiologic Technologist

This position is responsible for performing radiological exams in a safe and prudent manner for the specific purpose of producing a diagnostic exam of the highest quality while creating a quality environment for the customer. Performs a full range of diagnostic radiography.

Essential Functions

1. Technical factors: Automatic exposure control is used appropriately. Technical factors (kvp, ma, time and distance) are accurately utilized. Appropriate cassette is used (regular, grid, etc.), collimation and tomographic factors are employed and assistance is given to the attending physician during exams.
2. Positioning techniques: Appropriate body parts are imaged and identified, views are acquired, and immobilization is employed. Practices good sterile techniques.
3. Patient handling: Transports, transfers, and positions patients in a manner that is safe for the patient. Confirms that patient and exam preparations are appropriate. Evaluates patients mental and physical condition in order to avoid hazardous situations and does not leave alone, if their safety is questioned.
4. Clinical and Technical:
• Know and understand Hospital, Departmental, and examination protocols.
• Working knowledge of equipment, how to "trouble shoot" equipment, and when repairs are necessary how to contact the appropriate vendor.
• Know how to do QA on films and on equipment.
• Know how to schedule examinations. Review daily scheduled exams for corrections/additions/cancellations.
• Make sure exams are completed to include Teleradiology of films.
• Infection control principles.
• Problem solving skills.
5. Monitors patient needs.
6. Performs necessary paperwork and archiving.
7. Handles confidential information according to HIPAA regulations.
8. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
9. Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to: security and safety, understanding of MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics.
10. Ensures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures, as well as labor agreements.
11. Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organizations values.
12. Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the organization.
13. Ensures that additional accountabilities, as may be required by management, be handled in a manner necessary to meet organizational standards

Work Environment

The professional in the position reports to the Imaging Director. This position works closely with the Imaging team and other departments in order to provide complete patient care.

Education & Experience

Education:

a. Enrolled in an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) approved program.

Certification:

a. Washington State Radiologic Technologist Certification, RT (R).

b. Registered ARRT(R) required.

c. CPR certification Healthcare Provider (HCP) level required within three (3) months of hire.
