Field Service Technician II

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Field Service Technician II to join a wireless communications team supporting the installation, maintenance, & troubleshooting of mission-critical wireless communication systems. This role is located in Quincy, MA . The Field Service Technician II will provide hands‑on technical support for two‑way radio and wireless communications equipment while delivering exceptional customer service and recommending solutions that meet customer requirements. Responsibilities of the Field Service Technician II include: Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair wireless communications equipment, including UHF/VHF and 800/900 MHz radio systems, dispatch consoles, BDA/DAS systems, microwave systems, wireless broadband devices, and related communications equipment Create and modify mid‑level radio programming codeplugs, including configurations with 12+ channels, multiple zones, and trunking Diagnose and resolve technical issues using test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, system analyzers, watt meters, TDRs/FDRs, and multimeters Interpret schematics, blueprints, diagrams, and technical documentation to support system installation, troubleshooting, and repair Evaluate customer requirements and recommend appropriate communications equipment, hardware, and technical solutions Support base stations, repeaters, multicouplers, duplexers, battery backup systems, and related wireless communications infrastructure Provide professional customer service while supporting field installations, service calls, and on‑site troubleshooting Travel regionally and/or overnight as required and participate in on‑call support Qualifications of the Field Service Technician II include: 5+ years of experience diagnosing, repairing, programming, and installing two‑way radio and wireless communications equipment; military communications experience may be considered in lieu of traditional industry experience Hands‑on experience with Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM, Vertex, or similar two‑way radio systems Strong knowledge of two‑way radio theory, RF propagation, communications systems, and wireless infrastructure Demonstrated proficiency troubleshooting communications equipment using electronic test equipment and interpreting schematics and technical diagrams Valid driver's license and ability to travel regionally and/or overnight and support on‑call requirements Experience with DAS/BDA systems, TCP/IP principles, and NIC programming is preferred Associate degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent technical education is preferred CET, R56, Motorola Astro, or MotoTRBO certifications are a plus Compensation for the Field Service Technician II includes: Salary: $63,000-83,000 depending on experience Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k Plan, Company Vehicle, Paid Holidays, PTO, Life Insurance, Short/Long-Term Disability Insurance, Tuition Reimbursement Keywords: Field Service Technician, Service Technician, 2‑Way Radio, Two‑Way Radio, Wireless Communications, Radio Communications, RF, Radio Frequency, UHF, VHF, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, Radio Programming, Codeplug, Codeplugs, Trunking, Repeaters, Base Stations Duplexers, Multicouplers, Dispatch Consoles, BDA, DAS, Distributed Antenna System, Bidirectional Amplifier, Troubleshooting, Propagation, Spectrum Analyzer, System Analyzer, Wattmeter, TDR, FDR, Multimeter Motorola, Motorola Solutions, Kenwood, ICOM, Vertex, MotoTRBO, Astro, Astro 25 Radio Technician, RF Technician, RF Field Technician, Communications Technician, Wireless Technician, Electronics Technician, Radio Systems Technician, Telecommunications Technician, Field Service Engineer, Field Engineer, Communications Systems Technician #LI-SW1 #LI-ONSITE #J-18808-Ljbffr
