We are a one-school district, with the majority of our students coming from two sender districts, River Forest Public Schools District 90 and Oak Park Elementary School District 97. Summary Oak Park and River Forest High School is looking for substitute teachers in various subject areas. Substitutes report to the high school ready to perform the functions as outlined by the teacher's lesson plan. Qualifications Valid Substitute License or Professional Educator's License (preferred) Strong interpersonal skills Strong organizational skills Flexibility to substitute for various subject areas Availability to work on a regular basis Subbing/classroom experience is preferred All substitute teachers must pass an Illinois State Police and FBI background check (at the District’s expense) and must complete a physical exam (at the employee’s expense within first 30 days of employment). Essential Duties and Responsibilities Create and maintain a respectful and fair classroom culture that fosters safe and productive learning. Monitor, observe and report student behavior according to OPRFHS policies and procedures. Follow regular teacher’s lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, and that encourages students to participate. Assign classwork and homework as necessary, according to lesson plans. Maintain a well-managed classroom and positive learning environment.
