Database Administrator

Database AdministratorMV Transportation is seeking a Database Administrator to provide support for the corporate database environment within the Infrastructure group. The individual shall be a self-starter, highly motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure. This position will be responsible for handling various tasks including but not limited to setup and management of SQL server maintenance plans, monitoring of SQL performance, database design and administration. This position does not require travel.Job Responsibilities:Establishment and monitoring of SQL database Maintenance PlansMonitoring of SQL performance dataMonitoring status and results of daily scheduled SQL jobs and packagesSupport requests for unscheduled Database backups and restoresWorking closely with web and report developersManaging database-related release activities for staging and production systemsDeveloping, configuring and maintaining databases and related systems. This includes writing well-formed, efficient SQL queries, views, jobs and stored proceduresAdherence to policies, processes and procedures within your areas of responsibilityTalent Requirements:Highly organized and detail-orientedExcellent documentation, communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent analytical and problem-solving abilitiesOne (1) year experience performing DBA like tasksTwo (2)+ years of broad-based IT experienceDesired Qualifications:Experience with SQL Language (SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE)Familiarity with backups and restores including differential and transaction logsExperience with RDBMS - Primary Keys, Foreign Keys, IndexingUnique Records/DuplicationKnowledge of transactions - Understand ACID PropertiesBasic data modeling skillsAbility to provide on-call support outside normal business hours as neededWork Environment:Office location; can sit for extended periods; minimal lifting.
