CPA required | 8+ years’ Public Accounting experience

That’s how the Managing Partner describes his responsibility to the team.

He’s been with the firm for more than 20 years, and I think that tells you quite a lot about the place already.

This isn’t a firm trying to manufacture culture with free lunches and a ping pong table nobody uses.

It’s more about whether people enjoy the work, feel trusted, have room to grow and can still have a life outside of tax season.

They’re now looking for a Tax Partner to join the Houston team.

You’d be stepping into an established book of business rather than being handed a phone and told to start networking.

The client base includes HNW individuals, oil and gas and manufacturing, with plenty of complex partnership and S Corp work alongside wider advisory and consulting.

You’ll lead client relationships, review complex work, mentor Managers and Senior Associates and have a genuine say in how the team develops.

There’s still plenty to get your teeth into, but this isn’t a Partner role built around chasing revenue every waking hour.

There’s no heavy rainmaking expectation.

That matters.

Busy season typically tops out at around 60 hours, and if you do work overtime, you can choose between additional PTO or additional pay.

Once you’re settled in, the schedule is 3 days in the office and 2 from home.

More importantly, you’re joining somewhere that actually wants its Partners to lead.

Not just sign returns.

You’ll help shape the team, improve processes, mentor future leaders and have input into where the firm goes next.

They’re looking for someone who’s technically strong, comfortable reviewing complex individual, partnership and S Corp work, and genuinely enjoys the people side of Public Accounting too.

Someone who wants to develop staff, build long term client relationships and be part of the wider firm rather than simply manage a book and disappear.

At Partner level, moves are rarely just about another $20k on the base. You’re usually asking much bigger questions.

Who am I going to be working with?

What am I actually walking into?

Will I have autonomy?

Is there a future here?

And perhaps most importantly, am I going to enjoy the next ten years of my career?
