Ultrasound Technologist (PRN)

SonographerPerforms clinical assessment, diagnostic sonography examinations, invasive ultrasound procedures, doppler vascular examinations, deep abdominal studies and color-flow ultrasound as required.Selects a transducer and adjusts the equipment controls according to the organ to be examined, the depth of field and other specifications following exam specificationsMoves transducer, by hand, over specified area of the body and observes sound wave display screen to monitor quality of ultrasonic pattern produced.Evaluates technical quality of films to obtain representative images of pathogenic conditions; processes film in accordance with standard procedures or techniques.Discusses test results with supervisor or attending physician when needed.Reviews and processes images for storage by ensuring the proper views were obtained according to department protocol.Performs all quality control checks, as prescribed.Instructs and prepares patients for imaging examinations.Practices consistent patient safety measures ensuring the right patient, right dose/rate and right procedure/site/side.Completes annual educational requirements within the assigned time frame.Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and Joint Commission regulations related to their department and, as appropriate, to the hospital.Current certification by ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) in Sonography; ARRT (S), *ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) or CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International)*For ARDMS, fully registered means certification in both physics and a body part.Successful completion of an approved program in ultrasound technology.Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certificationKnowledge of anatomy and physiology.Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat and clean.Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.Is willing to receive constructive feedback to enhance self-improvement.Completes work within designated time.Attends and participates on hospital committees, as appropriate.Wears required identification while on duty.Does not avoid challenging tasks.Assists in the training of students, co-workers or other personnel.Relays important information to other staff/shifts to maintain consistency in operations.Understands how to utilize the grievance process to resolve concerns.Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.Demonstrates basic computer skills and knowledge consistent with the needs of their department.Knows the limitations of their license/certifications and does not practice outside these limitations.Maintains cleanliness of equipment and departmentResponsible for the safe handling of equipment as well as maintaining safety for themselves.Knows the proper procedure for calling codes and the proper response for each code according to department protocol (i.e. fire, lock down, infant abduction, bomb threat, etc.)Knows the proper procedure for reporting incidents involving the patient, visitor or employee.Knows where to find SDS information when needed.Is aware of hazards and hazardous materials and how to maintain a safe environment.
