Job TitleResponsibilitiesExamine title orders within underwriter guidelines to determine the conditions of the title and insurability by considering the effect of documents such as deeds, deeds of trust, mechanics liens, tax liens, judgments, assessments, probates, and other record documentsResearch respective title plant software, analyze, and evaluate pertinent record documents for determination of ownership and legal descriptionsExplain chain of title, exceptions, and requirements to customers and managersRecognize title defects and formulate curative measuresAssess risks and liabilities that may jeopardize the company, and bring these matters to the attention of the local title manager, state title manager, and/or underwriter, as appropriateEvaluate the risk to be undertaken in the issuance of a title insurance policy and the clearance of title objectionsPrepare an accurate title commitment in accordance with company examining and policy procedures of each state using title software programMaintain proper production levels and delivery standards on a daily basisWork closely with the customer and staff to meet time requirements for orders and assist with answering questionsGenerate title policies after closing, upload signed policies using document sharing softwareProvide customer service and support to assure closing dates are metMiscellaneous administrative responsibilities such as file maintenance, answering phones and special projects assigned by managerMay be required to work overtime as assigned.Keeps current with market trends and demands.Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.QualificationsRequired:Previous experience in title examination (minimum 10 years)Knowledge and experience preparing title commitments and policiesExperience with Microsoft Office, ExcelResearch in databases such as, county recorder websites and other pertinent software solutions.Familiarity with title insurance concepts, practices, and procedures.Basic understanding of risks and liabilities of titlesA certain degree of creativity and latitude is expectedDetail/quality oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to perform basic mathematical calculations and tasks requiring detail, concentration, and accuracyPreferred:Experience with ResWare is a plusStrong customer service orientationMust be a highly motivated self-starter with ability to work independently without supervision and remain accurate under pressureStrong problem solving skillsKnowledge of legal terms/documents helpfulThe expected salary range for this role is $40.00/hr - $50.00/hr.Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only.
