Adult & Children's Medicine of Dover provides comprehensive family care in Dover. We are committed to providing you and your family with superior quality and accessible care. We are located at a state-of-the-art facility (10 Members Way) with on-site lab and imaging services. We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.

Does this position require patient care? Yes. Essential functions include:

• Assisting junior medical assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helping facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training.
• Showing patients to examination rooms, preparing necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interviewing patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record.
• Explaining treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.
• Performing general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.
• Collecting blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, logging them, and preparing them for testing; performing phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.
• Maintaining inventory of immunizations and checking expiration dates.
• Providing immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.
• Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred.

Licenses and Credentials: Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] preferred. Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] preferred.

Experience: Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required.

Strongly Preferred:

• Medical Assistant Course or diploma program or a minimum of 1 year professional experience.
• National MA Certification via AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT.
• Epic experience.
• Ambulatory/Outpatient experience.
• Primary Care experience.
