HR Manager - Automotive Dealership Group

Human Resources Manager (Family-Owned Dealership Group) South of Boston, MA | $170,000–$200,000 | Automotive Dealer Group A well-established and growing automotive dealer group south of Boston is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead the HR function across the organization. This is a key leadership position responsible for ensuring compliance, supporting dealership operations, developing employees, and overseeing a small HR team. The dealer group is looking for a hands‑on HR professional with prior automotive dealership experience who understands the fast‑paced retail environment and can confidently navigate the unique HR challenges within the automotive industry. This role will work closely with the dealer group’s executive leadership while serving as a trusted resource for managers and employees throughout the organization. Stable upper management in place. Responsibilities Oversee all day-to-day human resources operations for the dealer group. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Maintain dealership compliance with employment policies, labor law postings, personnel files, I-9s, and HR documentation. Lead and mentor a small HR team while creating consistency across all HR processes. Partner with dealership leadership on employee relations, coaching, performance management, and conflict resolution. Manage recruiting support, onboarding, orientation, and employee retention initiatives. Work with the dealer group’s outsourced payroll provider to ensure payroll is processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable regulations. Administer employee benefits, leave programs, and workers’ compensation. Develop, implement, and update HR policies and procedures. Assist with training programs, performance reviews, and employee development initiatives. Maintain confidentiality while serving as a trusted advisor to leadership. Qualifications Previous automotive dealership HR experience is required. Strong working knowledge of employment law, compliance, and HR best practices. Experience leading or supervising an HR team and payroll team. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to build relationships with employees and management at all levels. High level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity. Bachelor’s degree and/or HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) is a plus. $170,000–$200,000 compensation package. Stable, well-respected dealer group with long-term growth opportunities.
