Pay Rate: $20.00/hour
Employment Type: Contract (Potential Extension and Conversion to Full-Time)
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Collector I to join our Revenue Cycle team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical insurance collections, claims follow-up, and account resolution. This role is responsible for managing assigned accounts receivable, following up with insurance companies and patients, resolving claim issues, and ensuring timely reimbursement. Experience with EPIC HB Resolute and medical claims is required.
Key Responsibilities
Perform insurance and patient collections on assigned accounts to ensure timely reimbursement.
Follow up with insurance companies regarding unpaid or denied claims.
Research, analyze, and resolve claim discrepancies and payment issues.
Contact patients to discuss outstanding balances and establish payment arrangements when appropriate.
Maintain accurate documentation of collection activities within the accounts receivable system.
Review accounts to determine eligibility for write-offs and submit supporting documentation for approval.
Respond to patient, payer, and third-party inquiries regarding account status.
Communicate with attorneys, employers, physicians, collection agencies, and other third parties as needed to resolve outstanding balances.
Review and respond to correspondence related to billing and collections.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, payer guidelines, and applicable healthcare regulations.
Meet productivity and quality standards while maintaining excellent customer service.
Required Qualifications
3–5 years of medical collections experience, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
Strong experience with insurance collections and medical claims follow-up.
Required: Experience using EPIC HB Resolute.
Knowledge of medical billing, reimbursement processes, denials, appeals, and insurance verification.
Experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance payers.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple accounts and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous hospital revenue cycle experience.
Experience with accounts receivable management and claim resolution.
Familiarity with healthcare billing regulations and collection best practices.
