Assistant Branch Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Branch Manager for a full-time, direct hire opportunity with a community banking environment in downtown Charleston, SC. This role is ideal for a retail banking professional with strong teller operations, customer service, and team support experience who is ready to grow into branch leadership.

The Assistant Branch Manager will help oversee daily branch operations, support frontline staff, assist customers with banking needs, and step in for the Branch Manager when needed. Key Responsibilities

- Assist the Branch Manager with daily branch operations, staff support, scheduling, administrative tasks, and operational follow-up.
- Provide guidance and support to tellers and customer service representatives while helping maintain a positive customer experience.
- Perform manager overrides, assist with audits and operational reviews, and support compliance with bank policies and procedures.
- Provide teller and customer service coverage as needed, including account opening, transaction support, and product and service recommendations.
- Monitor for suspicious activity, potential fraud, branch security concerns, and operational risks while following required escalation procedures.
- Serve as acting Branch Manager in the manager’s absence and help ensure efficient, accurate, and compliant branch operations.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $60,000 to $70,000 per year.
- Job type: Direct hire.
- Schedule: Full-time.
- Location: Downtown Charleston, SC.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Support daily retail banking operations, including teller functions, customer service, account opening, and branch administration.
- Assist with branch audits, operational controls, manager overrides, security procedures, and compliance-related activities.
- Provide leadership support to tellers and customer service representatives in a community banking environment.
- Serve as a reliable branch leader who can step in for the Branch Manager when needed.

- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years of combined teller and Customer Service Representative experience.
- Strong knowledge of teller operations, customer service standards, account support, and retail banking procedures.
- Ability to identify potential fraud, suspicious activity, and operational concerns.
- Understanding of BSA, CIP, OFAC, branch security, and banking compliance requirements.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational ability, sound judgment, and follow-through.
- Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative branch team.
- Flexibility to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced community banking setting.

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous experience as a Head Teller, Teller Lead, Assistant Branch Manager, or similar supervisory banking role.
- Strong retail banking background, including teller operations, new account opening, customer service, and branch operations.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and readiness to advance further into branch management.
- Familiarity with audit preparation, operational reviews, branch security, compliance procedures, and internal controls.
