Behavior Techs Needed for Prince William County ('26/'27 School Year)

The Behavior Technician works to facilitate educational and behavioral services with children and adults with special needs and collaborates with school professionals and other behavioral specialists to achieve learning and behavioral goals and objectives.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent required

• Current CPR if applicable

• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age

Behavioral Technician (BT) – Prince William County Schools

Prince William County Schools is hiring experienced Behavioral Technicians and Special Education Paraprofessionals to support students across more than 100 schools for the upcoming school year.

Position Overview

BTs will support moderate to severe special education classrooms, working primarily with small groups of students. Flexibility is important, as staff may occasionally assist in multiple classrooms.

Key Responsibilities

• Support students with a range of needs, including intellectual disabilities, autism, elopement behaviors, redirection/deflection , and reinforcement strategies.

• Implement activities and behavior plans created by the lead teacher and BCBA team.

• Participate in Crisis Prevention Training and earn certification as an Amergis Behavioral Technician.

• Collaborate with school staff to maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.

Compensation

• $22/hour across all zones and assignments.

Assignment Details

• Initial assignment runs 9 weeks, followed by a performance review and reassessment.

• High likelihood of extension for staff who meet or exceed expectations.

Start Date & Orientation

• School year begins August 24 .

• Mandatory orientation will take place the week of August 17 .

• Candidates must confirm availability for orientation and the full assignment.
