Position Summary

The Medical Director serves as both the primary clinical authority and a key operational leader for R3 Wound Care & Hyperbarics across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. This role combines direct advanced wound care and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) supervision with administrative, strategic, and float leadership.

Reporting directly to the CMO within a matrix organization, the Medical Director drives clinical outcomes, maintains regulatory compliance, mentors mid-level providers and staff, collaborates with executive leadership, and actively engages with local DFW healthcare systems and physician networks to generate referrals and expand R3's regional footprint.

Key Leadership Responsibilities

Executive Collaboration & Regional Growth

• Work closely with the CMO, COO, CFO, and Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) team to optimize financial metrics,       clinical workflows, and operational efficiency across DFW locations.
• Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) , Business Development, and Marketing teams to build referral pipelines with DFW-area hospitals, vascular/surgical groups, podiatrists, and primary care providers
• Work directly with the Compliance Director to ensure all clinical practices and hyperbaric chamber operations meet Texas state regulations, local guidelines, and national standards (including HIPAA and OSHA).
• Participate in formal and informal meetings with local provider groups, regional health plans, and insurance medical directors to expand R3's brand presence.

Clinical Supervision & Staff Development

• Provide clinical oversight and leadership for up to seven (7) mid-level practitioners (NPs/PAs), hyperbaric technicians, nurses, medical assistants, and front-office personnel across regional sites.
• Lead the onboarding, training, and professional development of new DFW clinical providers and support staff, fostering a safety-focused, high-performance team culture.
• Establish, update, and maintain clinical policies and procedures to optimize clinical outcomes and hyperbaric chamber utilization.

Payer Relations & Revenue Integrity

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving Medicare local coverage determinations (LCDs for Texas/Novitas), commercial payer guidelines, and wound care reimbursement landscapes
• Actively manage peer-to-peer appeals, engage directly with insurance medical directors, and resolve claim denials to secure coverage for medically necessary interventions
• Drive clinical documentation integrity across the provider team to support compliant billing and reduce audit risk.

Metroplex Coverage & Multi-Site Leadership

• Provide float coverage for Clinical Directors and regional providers during absences, ensuring seamless continuity of care across DFW clinics.
• Travel between DFW clinic sites (10%–20%) for clinical coverage, staff training, marketing outreach, and operational auditing.

Essential Clinical Duties

• Direct Patient Care: Examine, diagnose, and deliver evidence-based treatment to patients requiring advanced wound care interventions and advanced modalities.
• Hyperbaric Oversight: Evaluate, clear, treat, and monitor patients undergoing Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) according to safety standards and established medical protocols.
• Chamber Safety & Operations: Provide direct clinical oversight for daily hyperbaric chamber operations, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and emergency procedures.
• Patient Advocacy: Serve as a dedicated patient advocate, leveraging multidisciplinary resources, advanced wound products, and evidence-based medicine to maximize healing rates.
• EHR & Technology: Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation using modern EHR systems and digital healthcare technology.

Minimum Qualifications

• Degree: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant) with extensive clinical leadership experience.
• Board Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Surgical Specialties (Vascular, General).
• State Licensure: Active, unrestricted license to practice in the State of Texas with full prescriptive authority and no practice restrictions.

Specialty Certification

• Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) or equivalent certification (or agreement to obtain within an agreed timeframe).
• Completion of an approved 40-hour Hyperbaric Medicine Course
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support ( ACLS ) certification.
• Credentials: Fully credentialed and in good standing with Texas Medicare and commercial payer networks.
• Transportation: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel across the DFW Metroplex.

Compensation & Benefits Overview

• Base Salary: $200,000s (negotiated based on specialty, certifications, and leadership experience).
