About This Role

The Assistant Director supports the Center Director in the daily operation and management of BAMS Enrichment Academy. This position helps ensure that the center provides a safe, nurturing, organized, and high-quality environment for children, families, and staff.

The ideal candidate is a dependable, organized, professional, and confident leader who enjoys working with children and supporting a team. The Assistant Director should be able to step in when needed, communicate effectively with families and staff, and help maintain consistent compliance with center policies and childcare regulations.

Assistant Director — Duties & Responsibilities

• ️‍ Support and supervise teachers and classroom staff.
• Ensure children are safe, supervised, and well cared for.
• Assist with daily center operations.
• Help manage staff schedules, breaks, attendance, and classroom coverage.
• Conduct classroom checks throughout the day.
• Make sure teachers are following lesson plans and classroom routines.
• ️‍️‍️‍ Assist with parent communication, questions, and concerns.
• Respond to enrollment inquiries and help schedule tours.
• Assist with enrollment paperwork and maintaining student records.
• Maintain accurate attendance and staff records.
• Handle minor incidents and ensure proper documentation is completed.
• Monitor classroom cleanliness, health, and safety.
• Assist with opening and closing the center.
• Monitor staff-child interactions and classroom environments.
• Help train and orient new employees.
• Assist with staff meetings, training, and professional development.
• Help monitor classroom supplies and request needed materials.
• Assist the Director with licensing documents, inspections, and compliance.
• Help resolve staff conflicts and classroom concerns professionally.
• Communicate important information from the Director to staff.
• Step into classrooms when additional staff coverage is needed.
• Assist the Director with maintaining quality standards throughout the center.
• Serve as the Director’s support and backup when the Director is unavailable.
• ⭐ Help create a positive, professional, and welcoming environment for children, families, and staff.
• ➕ Perform additional duties assigned by the Center Director.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Center Director with the daily operations of the childcare center.
• Help supervise, support, and provide guidance to teachers and classroom staff.
• Ensure classrooms are properly staffed and operating according to center policies.
• Assist with staff scheduling, attendance, breaks, and coverage.
• Support enrollment, tours, parent inquiries, and new-family orientation.
• Maintain positive and professional relationships with parents and families.
• Assist with addressing parent concerns and resolving classroom or staff issues.
• Monitor classrooms to ensure children are safe, supervised, and engaged.
• Help ensure staff follow center policies, procedures, and health and safety practices.
• Assist with maintaining accurate attendance, incident, and classroom records.
• Support staff training, meetings, and professional development.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional center environment.
• Assist with licensing visits, inspections, and required documentation.
• Help manage opening and closing procedures.
• Step into classrooms when staff coverage is needed.
• Communicate important updates and concerns to the Center Director.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Center Director.
