Student Employment Specialist, Human Resources

Position Overview The Specialist of Student Employment and Federal Work-Study servesas the primary operational expert responsible for executing studentemployment and Federal Work-Study processes. This role manageshigh-volume hiring and onboarding activities, maintains accuraterecords, and supports students, supervisors, and community partnersthrough consistent and reliable service delivery. Through these responsibilities, the Specialist contributes to apositive and meaningful employment experience for students andsupervisors by ensuring processes are efficient, accessible, andresponsive to stakeholder needs. This is an onsite position. Responsibilities Operational Execution and Transaction Management Process student employment transactions, includingrequisitions, hiring, onboarding, and assignment management Coordinate completion of onboarding requirements, includingscheduling and tracking of I-9 verification and new hiredocumentation Manage Federal Work-Study operational activities, includingroutine timecard processing and monitoring of fund utilization Maintain accurate records and ensure timely completion ofrequired documentation Workflow and Service Delivery Serve as the primary point of contact for students,supervisors, and community partners regarding student employment processes Provide guidance on established procedures, timelines, andsystem workflows Monitor workflow queues and prioritize tasks to meetoperational deadlines Support resolution of routine operational issues Program Support and Coordination Maintain student employment communications, referencematerials, and documentation Coordinate logistics for student employment programs, trainingessions, and events Track and report operational data to support program monitoringand decision-making Escalate compliance concerns, operational risks, or workloadconstraints to the Manager in a timely manner Use recurring issues, stakeholder feedback, and data trends toidentify process improvement opportunities and recommendenhancements to workflows, communications, or servicedelivery Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, BusinessAdministration, Higher Education, or a related field 2–4 years of experience in student employment, financialaid, human resources, or a related administrative function Experience supporting hiring, onboarding, payroll, or financialtransactions within enterprise systems (e.g., Oracle, PeopleSoft,Kuali, or similar platforms) Knowledge of or experience with Federal Work-Study (FWS)program requirements or compliance in a higher educationsetting Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies,procedures, and regulatory guidance (e.g., FWS or employmenteligibility documentation) Strong attention to detail and ability to manage data,documentation, and time-sensitive transactions accurately Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, andmaintain productivity in a high-volume, compliance-drivenenvironment Effective communication and customer service skills, with theability to work both independently and collaboratively with diversestakeholders Preferred Qualifications Direct experience administering Federal Work-Study or similarfunding programs, including tracking and reportingexpenditures Familiarity with onboarding and I-9 compliance processes andfederal employment eligibility requirements Experience developing or maintaining communications, trainingmaterials, or reference documentation Experience coordinating programs, events, or training sessionsin a higher education environment Experience managing high-volume workflows or transactionprocessing BU Benefits and Perks Please check out Butler’s Total Rewards website to learn more about our benefitofferings, which include: Paid Time Off and Holidays 20 days of paid time off (vacation and PTO days) per Fiscalyear 8 Paid Holidays In addition, a paid Winter Break between Christmas Eve and NewYear’s Day Paid Parental Leave (after 1 year of full-time employment) Health Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans includingdisability and life insurance programs Retirement 10% employer contribution after 1 year of full-timeemployment Tuition Assistance Remission of tuition for classes taken at Butler for employees,spouses, and dependent children.
