Essential Functions: The Polysomnography Technologist is responsible for preparing the lab for patients, patient set up and performing basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies. Assists in the orientation and training of other staff in the department. Job Qualifications: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS Graduate of CAAHEP Polysomnography Program or a minimum of 6 months of experience in sleep medicine or respiratory procedures. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association Current licenseRegistered Polysomnography Technologist by the LSBME (Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners) and/or Registered as a Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) or Registered Sleep Technologist examination administered by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABMS) and/or Current license with the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist (must be Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist) with either Registered as a Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) or Registered Sleep Technologist examination administered by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABMS) and/orSleep Disorders Specialty (SDS)by The National Board for Respiratory Care The above job summary is intended to describe the general nature and level of the work being performed by people assigned to this work.
