About this Role:

The Enterprise Data and Information Management (EDIM), Program Data Reporting Division (PDRD) at the California DHCS is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Research Data Specialist II (RDS II) within the Community Programs Data Support Branch (CPDSB).

Under general direction of the Research Data Supervisor II, the RDS II will independently conduct more complex data analysis, data validation, data issue resolution and data support functions in the Specialty Services Reporting Section (SSRS) to support the Integrated Systems of Care Divisions (ISCD) waivers and programs. This will require ongoing data system and data analysis to support ISCD's programs and waivers in accordance with the DHCS' specifications and requirements. The SSRS performs a broad range of data collection, analysis, research, and quality assurance activities, and is responsible for all state and federal reporting requirements across all programs and federal waivers to support the ISCD. These activities support and enhance efforts to ensure the provision of appropriate, necessary, and high quality medical services to eligible beneficiaries.

Training and Development (T&D) assignm ents may be considered for this position for current California civil service employees. T&D assignments cannot exceed 24 months. However, successful T&D candidates may transition to a permanent appointment, if eligible at the end of the T&D assignment.

This position has been advertised as limited term and is expected to last 24 months; it may become permanent or be extended.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Extensive Excel experience.

• Experience querying data with Business Object.

• Strong knowledge of MIS/DSS.

• Knowledge of California's 1915(c) Waivers and Populations data. Ability to effectively manage workloads with competing priorities. Ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
