Under the general direction of a Research Data Supervisor II, the incumbent performs data related work in support of the Division of Data and Digital Services and other California DOT divisions, state and federal agencies supporting data-related strategies for decision making activities in planning, sustainability, accessibility, design, economic assessment, project delivery and traffic operations practices. The incumbent works closely with internal and external partners to Caltrans providing enterprise and webbased data platforms support.

This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans's evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee's designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.3

Working Conditions


Position located at 1120 N St Sacramento, Sacramento County.

The incumbent works primarily in a climate controlled office environment under artificial and natural lighting, or remotely telecommuting. On occasion the incumbent will be required to travel.

For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. techniques and methodologies associated. The incumbent also will need to be equally able in the use of office automation tools such as desktop and server products, handling of various administrative matters and responsibilities, prepare reports and present information publicly; communicate effectively, establish and maintain friendly and cooperative relations with those contacted, successfully follow directions and complete assignments, and keep the Office Chief/RDM informed and involved.
