We have opportunities supporting operations in Managed Services as well as IP Routing. As a Network Engineer III at Spectrum, you will design protocol compatibility standards, develop network enhancements, recommend improvements, and be responsible for implementing network architecture and designs.How You'll Make an ImpactParticipate in network planning, network architecture design and engineeringIntegrate and schematically depict communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurationsEvaluate new products, perform network problem resolutionAssist in the development and documentation of technical standardsDevelop and implement approved methods of procedureDesign and establish protocol compatibility standards, develop and implement network enhancements and make recommendations for improvementWork on projects/systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning, configuration and optimizationProvide escalated tier support across organizations and to third party vendorsWork on one or more projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project team leadAdhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicableWorking ConditionsOffice EnvironmentMay work in Network Lab environmentDepending on business group, on-call work may be an essential function of the jobOccasional travel as requiredWhat You'll Bring to SpectrumRequired QualificationsEducationBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experienceExperience5+ years data network experienceSkillsAbility to read, write and speak the English languageAbility to use personal computer and software applications like Microsoft OfficeDemonstrated in-depth data networking knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport)Ability to work in a team environment, perform duties in a very fast-paced environment and ability to learn new technology quicklyDemonstrated in-depth knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocolsDemonstrated in-depth knowledge in network design, network architecture, network protocols, network topology, network devices, and network appliancesDemonstrated in-depth knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations.Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of network designing software, such as VisioPreferred QualificationsEducationCisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)SkillsKnowledge of company products and servicesHere, our employees don't just have jobs, they're building careers.
