Instructional Assistant - Sign Language

Job Title

Assist a classroom teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students in general education and special education classroom environment using total communication (i.e. sign language); assist in the presentation and preparation of learning materials, lessons plans, instructional exercises in classroom and resource room environments; assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEP) and Behavior Support Plan (BSP); perform clerical and supportive tasks for instructional personnel.

Requirements / Qualifications

Experience: PreK-12 school experience is preferred. Three months of paid or volunteer experience working with people who can communicate or be communicated with only through sign language. One specialized course in sign language may be substituted for three months of paid or volunteer experience working with people who can communicate or be communicated with only through sign language. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. License(s), certifications or other requirements: • Valid California Class C Driver's License.
