Non-Certified Pharmacy TechnicianThe Non-Certified Pharmacy Technician provides technical and clerical pharmacy support services in an ambulatory care clinic setting under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This position assists with medication preparation, dispensing processes, inventory management, documentation, and patient support activities. All duties are performed in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, AAAHC accreditation standards, and organizational policies and procedures.Essential Functions:Assists pharmacists in preparing, packaging, labeling, and dispensing medications, including unit doses, pre-packs, and reconstituted productsCompounds medications as directed by a pharmacist and within permitted scope, including sterile preparations in accordance with USP 797 and USP 800, where applicablePrepares medications for automated dispensing cabinets and ensures accurate delivery and restockingSupports curbside medication delivery and prescription mail-out programs in accordance with clinic policyContacts patients to notify them when medications are ready for pick-upEnsures the use of two patient identifiers (e.g., name and date of birth) during all patient-related activitiesOffers patient satisfaction surveys as part of the clinic's quality improvement effortsDirects all clinical questions or medication counseling requests to a licensed pharmacistReceives, stores, rotates, and replenishes medications and pharmacy suppliesMonitors inventory levels, enters data into pharmacy systems, and generates supply ordersEnsures proper handling, storage, and documentation of medications, including temperature monitoringPerforms routine checks for expired medications and removes outdated products from inventoryCoordinates reverse distribution processes for credit or reimbursement when appropriateEnters medication, cost, and inventory data into pharmacy and billing systems, including perpetual inventory recordsAssists with pharmacy point-of-sale (POS) billing activities and supports pharmacy program billing as directedRequests and processes prior authorizations under pharmacist guidanceMaintains accurate pharmacy records, reports, and logs in compliance with organizational and regulatory requirementsMaintains working knowledge of pharmacy policies and procedures, including formulary management, refills, eligibility, and mail-out servicesParticipates in compliance with the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program, as applicableSupports quality improvement initiatives, audits, and clinic readiness activitiesComplies with all federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA confidentiality requirementsMaintains the pharmacy and storage areas in a clean, safe, and orderly conditionPerforms additional duties and special projects as assignedServes on organizational committees, teams, or workgroups as requestedRequirements:Participates in Core Connections training and applies GPTLHB Core Connections concepts and practices in their work.Familiarity and/or experience working with American Indian populations and respect for and knowledge of traditional, cultural, and spiritual practices of diverse American Indian communities, as well as an ability to work with other culturally and ethnically diverse populations.Proficiency with computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other Internet technologies.Valid driver's license must be kept current, and certificates, credentials or licenses must be kept current and consistent with regulations required by applicable federal, state and/or grant regulations as applies to position.Work in a cooperative and professional manner with OHC and GPTLHB staff.Treat Great Plains tribes and collaborators with dignity and respect.Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills.Advance personal educational development by attending training sessions and seminars as appropriate.Exemplify excellent customer service with tribal stakeholders, health board colleagues, program partners, service recipients, visitors and guests.Foster a work environment of wellness, courtesy, friendliness, helpfulness and respect.Consistently demonstrate respect for and acceptance of differing capabilities, cultures, gender, age, sexual orientation and/or personalities.Maintain and ensure organizational privacy and confidentiality.Promote an alcohol, tobacco and drug-free lifestyle.Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:High school diploma or GED requiredRegistration as a Pharmacy Technician with South Dakota State Board of Pharmacy upon hire.Pharmacy technician certification is not required for this position, but the selected candidate may obtain certification with Pharmacy Technician Certification Board in order to be considered for a Certified Pharmacy Technician role.Native American/American Indian Preference in hiring will be applied as defined in title 25 usc 44-46 &474.Employment is contingent upon the outcome of all required criminal background checks and pre-employment drug screen.Compliance with our Employee Health Procedure is a condition of employment.
