Job Overview

Position: We are seeking an OB anesthesia specialist to join our team at a bustling urban hospital that handles over 3,000 deliveries annually and features a Level 3 NICU. Our institution is known for its esteemed training program in OB/GYN, with a dedicated team of 16 OB/GYN residents, certified nurse midwives (CNMs), and attending physicians available around the clock.

• Provide in-house obstetric anesthesia coverage during designated hours, including administering epidurals and managing cesarean sections.
• Conduct patient assessments and oversee their management.
• Respond to code calls within the hospital.
• Perform intubations and place invasive lines (arterial lines, central venous catheters) as necessary.
• Demonstrate proficiency in neuraxial anesthesia and the ability to place invasive lines.
• Optional cross-coverage with the main operating room, which may involve supervising CRNAs or managing your own cases.
• Engage in a variety of surgical procedures, including vascular, gynecological, general/colorectal, orthopedic, ENT, urology, and some gastrointestinal surgeries.

• Board Certified/Board Eligible anesthesiologist.
• Possession of a valid New York State medical license and DEA registration.
• MOCA certification for physicians who obtained board certification after the year 2000.

The position involves a rotating two-week shift pattern, which includes:

• Six weekday shifts (four overnight and two daytime).
• One weekend shift.

The weekday shifts will run from 19:00 to 07:30, while the weekend shift will be from 07:30 to 07:30 (24 hours). Schedules will be prepared three months in advance.

Week 1:

• Sunday: 07:30 - 07:30
• Monday: 19:00 - 07:30
• Wednesday: 19:00 - 07:30
• Friday: 07:00 - 19:00

Week 2:

• Monday: 07:00 - 19:00
• Tuesday: 19:00 - 07:30
• Wednesday: 19:00 - 07:30

Salary: The annual salary for this position is $550,000, accompanied by comprehensive benefits.

Vacation: Enjoy 10 weeks of vacation each year.

A signing bonus of $25,000 will be awarded upon joining, contingent upon a one-year commitment to the role. Additional bonuses include:

• $15,000 after 18 months
• $15,000 after 24 months
• $20,000 after 30 months

This totals a potential signing bonus of $75,000.

A productivity bonus is available for those performing over 400 epidural anesthetics annually, with a $10,000 bonus awarded at each milestone. For example, if a physician performs 425 epidurals within the first year, they would qualify for a $20,000 bonus.
