Summary

This position is based at the Eielson Commissary, Eielson AFB, AK. The purpose of this position is to drivea refrigerated truck with a Gross Vehicular Weight (GVW) of 33,000 pounds between variousCommissaries in Alaska. Also performs the duties of a store worker and fork lift operator as described in DeCA standardized position (PD) #DS11099.

Duties

Help

• Assists journeyman meatcutters by performing the simpler tasks when processing beef, pork, veal, and lamb into retail and ready to eat cuts for sale to patrons.
• Trays, wraps, weighs, and prices cuts using automatic or manual wrapping machines.
• Ensures correct prices by referencing price lists.
• Replenishes stock in display cases and rotates product to ensure wholesomeness.
• Uses, cleans, maintains, and sharpens a variety of hand tools and power equipment.
• Cleans and sanitizes work area to maintain required standards of cleanliness and sanitation.

Qualifications

• Operating a refrigerated truck, with a GVW of 25,999 pounds
• Operating a forklift
• Knowledge of stock turnover, shelf space allocation and customer preferences.
• Knowledge of brand names and sizes of grocery items or of the kinds and varieties of fresh fruits and vegetables to ensure the proper
• care and handling of certain items

You will receive credit for all relevant qualifying experience (paid and unpaid), including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Physical requirements Physical effort is required to maneuver the vehicle, especially when backing the vehicle.Store worker work requires continuous walking, standing, bending, or stooping, andmoving of arms to fill shelves and counters when not performing driving duties.Frequently lifts or moves heavy boxes or crates weighing up to 75 pounds andoccasionally over 100 pounds with assistance. Moderate physical effort is used inoperating hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting, and stopping the forkliftand raising, lowering, and tilting loads being moved.
