Job Summary In this role you will be responsible for leading the Senior Manager of Operations who will direct a cross-functional team of technicians and support personnel to execute deliveries and drive Transition-to-Production Maturation across the site. The role leads individual contributors and personnel across a variety of advanced manufacturing technologies including electro-mechanical assembly, drone, hypersonic, advanced materials and precision guided weapons systems. The position may support business development opportunities and reports to the Vice President of Operations based in Wilmington, MA. About This Role Responsibilities Drive cross-functional collaboration among touch labor, scheduling and planning, manufacturing engineering, machine shop, quality engineering and inspection to achieve contractual deliveries. Drive team and process growth across Manufacturing Engineering, Planning and Production Control and Logistics to enable Manufacturing Readiness maturation. Manage the material transition of programs into the ERP system. Represent Weapons Business Unit interests at relevant Supply Chain meetings. Influence across boundaries to achieve objectives and long-range goals of the team. Conduct Performance Management when required. Develop subordinate leaders and collaborate with the Vice President of Operations to enable growth in manufacturing capability. Collaborate with executive leadership, program and business development teams to author proposals and support onsite customer visits. Lead the team to drive day-to-day operations and prioritization within assigned work functions. Responsible for defect reporting and interruptions to flow with root cause analysis and corrective action. Plan, organize and assign the workflow of departments to complete projects on schedule and within budget. Represent assigned operations areas at program operations meetings. Staff the team to meet program needs and assess and develop skills and certifications to meet demand. Interact with other managers to support program priorities. Recommend and justify capital equipment, facility renovations and tooling needs. Assist with writing procedures, forecasts and manpower plans while assessing planned versus actual performance. Ensure the group can pass compliance and regulatory audits relevant to their work area. Working Conditions Inside and outside environmental conditions may apply. Exposure to physical and atmospheric conditions; use of personal protective equipment may be required. Travel to satellite sites, suppliers and subcontractors if required. Qualifications Knowledge of industry wide practices and procedures in manufacturing. Technical knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies. Proficient in Microsoft Office, with ability to analyze large data outputs. Knowledge of MRP ERP systems; Oracle experience is desired. Knowledge of military and commercial quality specifications (AS9100). Statistical techniques and applications knowledge. Understanding of the SIOP process and material risk mitigation. Effective written and oral communication and presentation skills. Ability to analyze complex specifications, drawings and procedures. Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities. Ability to resolve manufacturing issues across organizations and communicate complex problems to upper management. U S citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance as needed. Lean manufacturing knowledge with Six Sigma and Lean certifications preferred. Education and experience: 8 years in manufacturing and 5 years in a leadership role; engineering Bachelor’s degree required, preferred in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering; graduate degree preferred.
