Staff Software Engineer

Becton Dickinson seeks a Staff Software Engineer to design and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure and platform services integrating EHR and cloud applications. This hands-on technical leadership role requires expertise in distributed systems, AWS, and full-stack development to support healthcare technology solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and build end-to-end systems optimized for performance, scale, and reliability across the technology stack
• Architect scalable cloud infrastructure using AWS CDK or Terraform with reusable constructs and infrastructure-as-code practices
• Develop internal SDKs, developer tooling, and RESTful APIs enabling teams to consume platform capabilities efficiently
• Lead and guide other engineers in delivering features while maintaining code quality, documentation, and best practices
• Manage reliability, security, and observability of AWS environments including IAM, VPC, monitoring, and cost optimization

Requirements

• 7+ years building large-scale software applications in healthcare or related field
• 2+ years experience with Terraform and/or AWS CDK
• 2-3 years running and supporting production systems on AWS
• Proven experience leading engineers and planning technical deliverables
• Proficiency in Java, React, JavaScript, and RESTful API design
• Strong knowledge of cloud persistence technologies and orchestration platforms
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering (or equivalent experience)
