Position Overview

This position is responsible for the preparation of right-of-way plats, plans, legal descriptions, and related documents and drawings concerned with land acquisition and condemnation. It is also responsible for the review of plats and plans prepared by consultants.

Essential Functions

• Assures that preparation of plats and plans and related documents prepared by in-house or consultant staff are prepared accurately.
• Assures that all time frames established for the preparation of plats and plans are adhered to.
• Assures right-of-way strip maps are accurate.
• Assures that all required survey data is properly requested and reviewed.
• Assures that all plats, legal descriptions, title work, and survey data is completed in a timely manner to minimize delays in processing excess land requests.
• Assures that all court displays, as required for condemnation trials, are prepared accurately and within established time frames.
• Performs all duties in compliance with departmental rules, regulations, and safety work practices. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
• Performs other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Current license as a Professional Land Surveyor in Illinois.
• Four years of experience in the practice of land surveying.

Preferred Qualifications

• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Problem solving skills.
• Supervisory experience.

Conditions of Employment

• Valid driver's license.
• Occasional district-wide travel.
• Successful completion of a background screening.
