JOB TITLE:

Greenhouse Technician

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:

Botany

Job location: Williams Conservatory

Pay rate or range: $15.00/hr

JOB PURPOSE:

This position will report to the Greenhouse Manager and assist with all tasks relating to greenhouse care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Tasks include:

• Watering
• Weeding
• Pruning
• Cleaning/organizing
• Fertilizing
• Assisting with miscellaneous greenhouse tasks
• Monitoring and controlling pests
• Collecting data
• Propagating plants for fundraising and educational purposes
• Occasionally caring for research plants

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma/GED, Work-study funding

Must be eligible, have received and accepted work study award through Student Financial Aid for the applicable semester and/or academic year.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Understanding of basic plant care, watering techniques, and general horticulture.
• Ability to work weekends.
