Assistant Project Manager - T&D Program Management (Southeast Region)

Description Burns & McDonnell is proud to be the market leader in providing program management services to the utility industry. Our Transmission & Distribution (T&D) global practice is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) across the southeastern United States. This includes offices in Atlanta, Charlotte, Chattanooga, Oakridge, Huntsville, and Aiken. However, field assignments may be throughout the U.S. Typical project types include: Electric Transmission and Distribution Gas Transmission and Distribution Generation / Supply Interconnection Major customer connection Communication networks and automation Responsibilities Support Project Management Teams in planning, executing and monitoring projects through all stages, including siting, permitting, estimating, engineering, right-of-way acquisition, project controls, procurement, construction oversight, and closeout. Manage contractors' submittals, requests for information, supplemental design instructions, and site drawing logs. Verify contractor compliance including quality, safety, environmental and material management programs. Execute contracts including change order management, field change directives, approval of invoices, and schedule management. Assist with project controls efforts, including cost reporting, scheduling, work breakdown structure establishment, project set-up and closeout within the accounting system, and field progress tracking. Assist with the development of internal and external reports such as project budgeting, cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and status reports to all stakeholders. Close out contract and project documentation. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management or related program and 5 years of applicable experience. PMP or similar certification is a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, demanding work environment and work overtime on short notice. High proficiency using Microsoft Office. Ability to work collaboratively with owners, contractors, project managers, engineers and designers in a multi‑discipline project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues and accomplish objectives. Creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems. Will be assigned to a Burns & McDonnell office; if not local, field assignment may be required.
