(C) Project / Field Engineer - TSHD Adele

THE MCHENRY MANAGEMENT GROUP, LLC

Description Background check, US Citizenship and drug screening are requirements for this position. Contingent on award. 24-month position. Job may rotate between Allanton FL and Port St Joe FL (only 30 miles apart). Position is 100% fully on-site so travel is 100% to FL TMMG is seeking an experienced and detail-driven Project / Field Engineer to support Eastern Shipbuilding Group (ESG) during the construction of the Trailing Suction Hopper Dredge (TSHD) Adele—a next-generation 347-foot, Royal IHC Beagle Mk2–class vessel being built for The Dutra Group. This position will serve as a technical and coordination hub between ESG’s production and engineering teams, Royal IHC (the design and dredge systems supplier), TMMG, and Dutra’s owner representatives. The engineer will manage day-to-day field engineering, ensure technical compliance, and help drive the project through fabrication, outfitting, testing, and trials over a two-year build period at ESG’s Allanton and Port St. Joe, Florida yards. The candidate is a hands‑on, technically grounded marine engineer with strong experience in new construction shipyard environments—someone comfortable walking the deck plates in the morning and reviewing complex vendor drawings by the afternoon. They excel in translating engineering intent into practical field execution and thrive in fast‑paced, multi‑stakeholder projects that demand coordination, attention to detail, and proactive communication. This engineer should possess a solid foundation in marine systems integration (mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical), combined with a working understanding of class and regulatory requirements such as ABS and U.S. Coast Guard standards. A background in dredging, offshore, or heavy marine equipment construction will be highly valuable. They must be confident managing engineering and production interfaces—bridging communication between shipyard teams, OEM vendors, and design agents like Royal IHC—while ensuring technical accuracy and schedule performance. Above all, the successful candidate demonstrates initiative, accountability, and adaptability. They can balance office‑level documentation and reporting with field‑level presence, anticipating issues before they impact production. A “get‑it‑done” mindset, strong interpersonal skills, and genuine pride in vessel quality and performance are essential traits for this role. Key Responsibilities Program Integration & Controls Establish and maintain an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) encompassing design milestones, procurement, fabrication, system installation, commissioning, and test phases. Develop short‑term lookahead plans and production tracking metrics tied to physical progress in hull, machinery, and system areas. Identify critical‑path activities, potential delays, and resource conflicts; provide recommended recovery actions to maintain milestone performance. Maintain and update a Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) linking contract specifications, Royal IHC design deliverables, ABS/USCG requirements, and test verification points. Support ESG and TMMG management with weekly progress briefings, risk registers, and performance dashboards. Engineering & Design Interface Coordination Serve as the on‑site liaison for all technical clarifications, RFIs, ECNs, and vendor data inquiries between ESG engineering, Royal IHC, and The Dutra Group. Review system design packages (P&IDs, one‑lines, foundation drawings, and interface schematics) for constructability, accuracy, and integration consistency. Verify that vendor and IHC documentation aligns with U.S. standards, ABS class requirements, and ESG’s production capabilities. Track as‑built configuration through engineering changes and drawing revisions, ensuring configuration control is maintained from design through trials. Production & Outfitting Support Provide hands‑on field engineering support to ESG’s production and subcontractor teams during module erection, pipe routing, cable pulls, and equipment installation. Support material takeoffs, resolve field deviations, and provide real‑time technical guidance to ensure alignment with design intent. Participate in tagout, inspection, and preservation activities to verify readiness for system completion and testing. Document field discrepancies and coordinate with design engineering for timely resolution. Vendor, OEM, and Systems Integration Coordinate daily with OEM suppliers of dredge pumps, drag arms, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and automation controls to ensure proper interface, installation, and commissioning sequencing. Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and verify equipment performance against design and contract requirements. Track delivery schedules for long‑lead items, manage punch lists, and verify installation alignment, clearances, and load‑out requirements. Quality Assurance, Testing & Trials Develop and maintain a Master Test Index and coordinate all testing—from compartment air tests and alignment checks to dredge system performance trials. Author and review test procedures covering dockside and sea trial events: propulsion, electrical load balance, control system integration, drag arm operation, bottom door sequencing, and pump‑ashore performance. Monitor and document system readiness using TMMG’s standardized Test Readiness Review (TRR) process and ensure all tests align with class, flag, and owner acceptance criteria. Participate in and document Dock Trials, Builder’s Sea Trials, and Dredge Performance Trials, verifying measured results against contract guarantees. Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with all ABS, U.S. Coast Guard, and environmental regulations relevant to vessel construction and testing. Monitor ESG’s implementation of environmental controls for dredging equipment—turbidity discharge, overflow management, and wash water containment. Participate in HAZIDs, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and risk assessments associated with dredge system testing, high‑energy systems, and deck operations. Documentation, Turnover, and Operational Readiness Compile and manage technical documentation for all major systems: equipment manuals, vendor data books, test records, and spares inventories. Support ESG and Dutra in developing operational readiness deliverables, including maintenance plans, spare parts listings, and crew training outlines. Validate system readiness for delivery and assist with commissioning reports, closeout documentation, and warranty tracking post‑delivery. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Marine, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent shipyard/field experience. 5–10 years of shipyard, new construction, or systems engineering experience. Strong knowledge of shipboard systems: propulsion, electrical distribution, hydraulics, automation, and HVAC. Experience with ABS class surveys, system inspections, and documentation requirements. Working knowledge of Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar scheduling tools. Excellent coordination, communication, and field engineering problem‑solving skills. Able to interpret and apply design drawings, vendor documents, and technical specifications. Preferred Skills Prior experience with trailing suction hopper dredges, dredge pumps, or offshore hydraulic systems. Familiarity with Royal IHC equipment or dredging automation/control systems. Experience in performance trials, testing documentation, and quality management processes. Understanding of environmental compliance and dredge performance metrics (yd³/hr, cycle time, pump curves). U.S. Coast Guard, Navy, or commercial shipyard construction background. Other Competencies Strong organizational and documentation discipline; able to manage large data and drawing sets. Skilled communicator—able to translate between production teams, design engineers, and owners. Self‑motivated, analytical, and capable of working with minimal supervision. Commitment to safety, integrity, and continuous improvement. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with electronic drawing and document control tools. Requirements Physical Job Requirements Frequent climbing of ladders and staging (scaffolding access) Enter confined spaces and machinery areas Walk uneven surfaces, grating, and deck plating Stand/walk for long durations (majority of shift onboard) Lift and carry tools/equipment (20–40 lbs) Work in all weather conditions (rain, heat, wind) Maintain balance and mobility around active construction zones #J-18808-Ljbffr THE MCHENRY MANAGEMENT GROUP, LLC
