This position exists to assist with the processing of applications for retirement and payment of refunds requested by MSRS defined benefit plan members. The duties of the position must be completed within strict deadlines and the incumbent must be able to prioritize multiple tasks. This position will also assist with MNDCP participant distributions, the MSRS Unclassified Plan refund entry process, evaluate and enter participant data, coordinate correspondence to participants, and provide administrative support to the Minnesota State Retirement Systems Retirement Services division.

Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Review and process defined benefit retirement applications.

• Perform and/or assist with the refund or rollover processing from the defined benefit plan.

• Complete new entries and updates for periodic payments.

• Enter and process distribution requests for MSRS defined benefit plans.

Minimum Qualifications

• English language skills sufficient to be able to speak, read, write, understand and communicate effectively with co-workers, clients and the general public

• Skills in word processing sufficient to use software such as Microsoft Word and Excel to type and format letters, memos, and spreadsheets

• Ability to use customer service skills to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to customers on the phone

• Basic math skills, specifically addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and application of percentage

• Typing/keyboarding skills sufficient to be able to accurately enter participant data and information in a timely fashion (55 WPM)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with retirement plans

• Experience handling sensitive and confidential material with discretion

• Experience with data entry/database management skills sufficient to accurately enter data, maintain database, and effectively retrieve information from multiple databases
