Growing together.Southwest Medical Associates (SMA), an Optum company, is Nevada's largest multi-specialty practice, with over 350 physicians and advanced practice clinicians. Our facilities include 22 medical offices, with 6 urgent care clinics, 7 Convenient Care Clinics, two lifestyle centers catering to seniors and two outpatient surgery centers. The practice is fully integrated and includes home health, complex disease management, pharmacy services, medical management and palliative care. SMA is actively engaged in population health management, with an emphasis on outcomes, and offers patients compassionate, innovative and high-quality care throughout Nevada. SMA is headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada.Our On-Demand Care Department is the largest, most-comprehensive in Nevada for outpatient episodic care, with a quarter million visits annually. The department includes six urgent cares and seven retail clinics, offering a full spectrum of services, with on-site laboratory, radiology (which includes CT and ultrasound), observation unit and infusion center. Our practice is nearly paperless, with electronic health records, digital radiology, electronic prescriptions and e-visits. The practice encompasses the full scope of urgent care and is evidence-based, and protocol driven. Our department also includes a robust telemedicine practice, with nearly 15,000 virtual consultations since 2014.Position Highlights:Provides clinical oversight to Anesthesia Pain Management TeamParticipate in the interview, selection, orientation, development of clinical staff and providers.Supervision/evaluation of provider staff for compliance with all SMA/SHS policies and procedures, state and federal regulations, and standards of practice to ensure quality of care.Provide direct patient care including development of patient diagnosis and treatment plans for patients referred into the Pain Management Department.Oversight of the development and implementation of patient-centered care plans.Perform invasive pain management therapies as deemed appropriateParticipates with RN Team Leaders to coordinate and communicate re: patients across all venues of care.Ensures cost effective use of resourcesParticipate in Multi-disciplinary Pain Management Team meetingsEnsure excellent communication and cooperation with the rest of the Multi-disciplinary Pain Management Team.Receives direction from Surgical Specialties Division Chief. Gives direction to: Providers re: medical practice issues within Anesthesia Pain Management Department. Works cooperatively with: Physician Chief of Industrial and Preventive Medicine, other members of the Multi-disciplinary Pain Management Team, primary care physicians, referring specialty physicians, RN Clinical Director, Division Business Director and Support Services Supervisor.Supports the overall vision of a Positive Patient Experience by achieving a positive balance of healthcare, cost outcomes and patient satisfaction on Pain Management Team.Facilitates quality of care, excellent customer satisfaction while achieving team specific financial goals.Supports SMA and network physicians by providing leadership and promoting collaboration with internal and external team members.Ensures that care meets the individualized goals of the treatment plan.You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:MD/DO with board certification (or Board eligibility with anticipated certification within the next 2 years) in anesthesiology and licensed to practice by the Nevada State Board of Medical ExaminersPrior practice in a multi-disciplinary pain management practice is strongly preferred. Prior experience with a prepaid insurance plan is desirable, as is prior experience in managed care.Expertise in the performance of a wide range of invasive pain management techniques.Knowledge and experience in the diagnosis and medical treatment of a broad range of pain syndromes.Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated organizational skills.OptumHealth is part of the family of companies that make UnitedHealth Group one of the leaders across most major segments of the US health care system.Compensation for this specialty generally ranges from $398,500-667,500. Total cash compensation includes base pay and bonus and is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience and may increase over time based on productivity and performance in the role.
