Police Officer The City of Belvedere is now accepting applications for Police Officer 3-Year Limited Term Salary Range: $8,760 - $10,460 Plus a Great Benefits Package Open Until Filled The Police Officer performs law enforcement and crime prevention duties involved in the protection of life and property. The Officer will perform traffic control and enforce state and local traffic regulations; perform a variety of technical and administrative tasks in support of law enforcement services and activities; and perform related duties as required. This is a full-time, benefited, three (3)-year limited-term position. Prior to the conclusion of the limited-term assignment, the City will evaluate departmental operational needs and budgetary considerations to determine whether the position should be continued, modified, or discontinued. Police Officers are generalists who typically handle cases from the first response, through investigation, and onto final disposition. In addition, Officers frequently assist the Chief of Police with administrative duties and consult closely with him in formulation of departmental policies, procedures and tactics. The Police Officer is assigned to one of four patrol shifts. Officers frequently work alone and may be required to make decisions regarding appropriate courses of action without direct supervision. The department is committed to providing a high level of training to those Officers who desire to increase their level of proficiency. Qualifications: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12) grade. Possess a POST Basic Certificate or POST Basic Waiver. At least 21 years of age as of date of hire per California Government Code 1031.4 Possess a valid California Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record. Be legally authorized to work in the United States per California Government Code 1031 and Federal Code 274a.2 Good moral character with no felony convictions Military veterans encouraged to apply Be lawfully able to possess a firearm Complete 16-week Field Training Program with the department if not have already successfully completed with another law enforcement agency. Selection Process: Each candidate's background will be evaluated based on the information submitted. Only the most qualified candidates will be invited to the next phase in the recruitment process, which may include an oral panel interview and/or a practical exercise.
